RCIA (the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults) is the way in which adults enter the Catholic Church and complete their Sacramental journey. It is a restoration of the ancient practice of initiation into the Christian faith gradually though stages, culminating in Baptism and the other Sacraments. RCIA is not a program but a journey into the fullness of the Catholic faith, liturgy, prayer, and way of life.
From the time of the apostles, becoming Christian has been accomplished by a gradual, individulatized, and progressive journey which is completed in several stages. This journey into the Church may be covered rapidly or slowly, but certain essential elements will always have to be present.
Not every person interested in the Catholic faith and the Sacraments has the same background or needs. Therefore, the RCIA process may vary in length depending on a person’s individual spiritual, sacramental, and catechetical needs. These classes are open throughout the year and you may enter at any time.
If you or someone you know is interested in becoming Catholic or has questions, the first step is to contact the pastor or the RCIA coordinator through the Church office (337) 667-6344.
